Index tranche: did your salary really go up 2.5%?
Every Luxembourg salary carries an index number. When inflation pushes the index over a threshold, all salaries, pensions and the minimum wage rise by 2.5% in the same month. Employers sometimes miss it.
How to read it
Your payslip prints an index figure (for example 944.43). Your base salary is a 'salaire à l'indice 100' multiplied by that number. When STATEC announces a new tranche, the number changes and the base rises by exactly 2.5% from the trigger month.
What to verify
Compare the base salary of the month before and after the announced tranche: the ratio should be 1.025. Check that overtime rates, allowances tied to the salary and the minimum wage lines moved too. If the index printed on your slip is older than the last tranche, ask payroll.
Why it matters
A missed tranche costs 2.5% of gross every month until corrected, and it compounds with the next one. Arrears are owed in full.

Questions people ask
Does the index apply to my bonus?
If the bonus is defined as a number of monthly salaries, yes, automatically. A fixed-amount bonus follows your contract.
